User Roles and Permissions

Every LAMS user is assigned a role that determines which screens they can see and what actions they can take. The menu on the left updates automatically based on your role — you will only see sections relevant to your work.

Full access to all system functions.

  • Manage user accounts and reset passwords
  • Add, edit, and inactivate producers
  • Configure system settings and rate filings
  • Schedule automated reports
  • View all reports and audit logs

Processes applications from submission to policy issuance.

  • Enter new applications and renewal applications
  • Run ratings and generate quotes
  • Review underwriting information (IRM, claims history)
  • Approve, refer, or decline applications
  • Issue policies via the Order to Issue checklist
  • Handle mid-term endorsements and cancellations

All underwriter capabilities plus team oversight.

  • Manage and reassign work across the team
  • Approve high-premium exceptions and credits
  • Access enhanced production and performance reports

Handles all financial transactions for issued policies.

  • Record payments (ACH, check, credit card, wire, finance)
  • Process bookings and generate invoices
  • Manage refunds and adjustments
  • Track and pay producer commissions
  • Manage account current statements

Manages the general ledger and financial records.

  • Maintain the chart of accounts
  • Create and post journal entries
  • Print checks to vendors and producers
  • Perform bank reconciliations
  • Manage vendor records

Limited view access to their own book of business.

  • Look up policies they are assigned to
  • Request quotes and renewals
  • Check renewal status and upcoming expirations
  • View their commission reports

Each role is assigned permissions per screen. An administrator can view and update these at any time.

Administrators can review and update role permissions from Administration > User Management.

  • Sessions automatically expire after 8 hours of inactivity.
  • Five consecutive failed login attempts will lock an account — contact your administrator to unlock it.
  • All user actions are recorded in the activity audit trail.
