Guidelines Validation
Overview
Section titled “Overview”Before generating a premium quote, LAMS automatically checks the application against the carrier’s underwriting guidelines. This catches eligibility issues early — before a quote is sent to the producer — so you do not have to manually check each rule.

When Validation Runs
Section titled “When Validation Runs”Guidelines validation runs automatically when you click Generate Rate. You can also run it manually at any point by clicking Check Guidelines in the application toolbar.
What Gets Checked
Section titled “What Gets Checked”Client Information
Section titled “Client Information”- All required fields are complete (firm name, address, contact)
- The producer is active and licensed in the policy state
Independent Contractors
Section titled “Independent Contractors”- Classification is correctly identified
- Coverage requirements for contractors are met
Mid-Term Changes
Section titled “Mid-Term Changes”- Coverage continuity is maintained for endorsements
Certificates
Section titled “Certificates”- Certificate requirements are satisfied
- Linked lines of business are properly set up
Appraisers
Section titled “Appraisers”- Appraiser license is valid
- Trainee coverage rules are followed
- AMC (Appraisal Management Company) rules are applied correctly
Reading the Results

After validation runs, you will see a list of checks. Each one shows:
- Pass (green) — the requirement is met
- Fail (red) — there is an issue that needs to be resolved
For each failure, a brief description explains what is wrong and how to fix it.
If a Guideline Fails
Section titled “If a Guideline Fails”- Non-critical failures — You may proceed to rating, but the issue will appear as a warning. Review it before sending the quote.
- Critical failures — The system will block quote generation until the issue is resolved. Fix the application data and re-run validation.
Overriding a Guideline
Section titled “Overriding a Guideline”In exceptional cases, a guideline can be bypassed by users with the appropriate permission. Use this sparingly — it creates an audit record that managers can review.

Section titled “Supported Product Lines”Guidelines validation is available for all product lines:
- Accountants Standard and Express
- Real Estate Standard and Express
- Appraiser Express
- Lawyers Professional Liability
- Miscellaneous Professional
- Cyber Liability
