Template Management
Overview
Section titled “Overview”LAMS uses PDF templates to generate all policy documents — declarations pages, endorsements, quote sheets, letters, and more. Each template contains placeholders that are automatically replaced with the correct policy data when the document is generated.
This page is primarily for administrators who manage the template library.
Viewing the Template Library

Navigate to Administration > Templates (or Documents > Templates) to see all available templates organized by product line and document category.
Uploading a New Template
Section titled “Uploading a New Template”- Click Upload Template.
- Select the PDF file from your computer.
- Enter a descriptive template name.
- Select the product line and document category (e.g., Declarations Page, Endorsement, Letter).
- Define the placeholders — enter each placeholder name that appears in the PDF and confirm the replacement value.
- Click Save.

Placeholder Format
Section titled “Placeholder Format”Placeholders in the PDF are written in *FieldName* format. When a document is generated, LAMS replaces each placeholder with the live data from the policy. Common placeholders include:

Testing a New Template
Section titled “Testing a New Template”Always test a template before putting it into production:
- Open any active policy in the matching product line.
- Go to Documents > Generate Document.
- Select your new template from the dropdown.
- Click Generate and review the output carefully.
- Verify that all placeholders were replaced correctly and the layout looks right.
Updating an Existing Template
Section titled “Updating an Existing Template”To replace a template with an updated version:
- Find the template in the library.
- Click Edit.
- Upload the new PDF file.
- Verify the placeholder definitions still match.
- Save — the new version takes effect immediately for all future documents.
Previous documents generated from the old template are not affected.
